TARIFF RECOVERY

Have You Paid More in Import Duties Than You Needed To?

Tariff Recovery remains an active Uncle Dan Consulting service. I connect importers with specialists who review duties already paid, identify potential refund opportunities, and determine the appropriate next steps.

The right opportunity depends on your import records, the duties involved, and the requirements that apply to your entries.

What Is Tariff Recovery?

Tariff recovery is a review of import duties already paid to determine whether your business may be eligible to recover money.

Depending on the facts, specialists may examine classification or valuation issues, applicable exclusions, billing or entry errors, and other potential grounds for a refund.

IEEPA-related refunds and Section 301-related opportunities are evaluated separately under the rules that apply to each. A refund opportunity in one category does not mean every tariff your business paid is refundable.

Start With a Short Tariff Recovery Overview

Watch this introduction, then let’s discuss your organization’s import activity and whether a specialist review makes sense.

Actual Historical Client Examples

These three confirmed case examples show past recoveries for individual importers. They are not typical, expected, or guaranteed results.

Pharmaceutical Company — $1.8 Million

A pharmaceutical company received $1.8 million in tariff refunds.

Food Importer — $875,000

A specialty food importer received $875,000 in tariff refunds.

Fashion Retailer — $500,000

A fashion retailer received $500,000 in duty refunds.

Individual results vary and depend on the importer’s entries, tariffs paid, eligibility, documentation, and applicable recovery process.

Is Your Business a Good Fit?

This review may be relevant if your business imports goods and has paid customs duties. Manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and other importers can start by discussing their import history.

Useful records may include customs entry summaries, duty-payment records, product descriptions, classification information, and correspondence from your customs broker or prior filings.

You do not need to determine eligibility on your own. Specialists review the records and explain which opportunities, if any, apply.

How the Review Works

1. Start With an Eligibility Review
We begin with your import activity and available records to determine whether a more detailed review is appropriate.

2. Review the Entries and Duties Paid
Specialists examine relevant customs entries, duty payments, and supporting information to identify potential recovery opportunities.

3. Determine the Appropriate Filing Path
If you choose to proceed, the appropriate professionals explain the required documentation, applicable deadlines, filing process, and fees. They coordinate with your customs broker where appropriate.

Eligibility, filing methods, deadlines, and results depend on the entries involved and current requirements. A review does not guarantee a refund.

Already Filed a Claim or Working With a Customs Broker?

A previous filing does not automatically rule out a review. Share what has already been submitted and any notices or decisions you have received so specialists can assess the status and avoid duplicating work.

My role is to bring the appropriate specialists into the conversation and support coordination with the professionals already involved.

Let’s Find Out Whether a Review Makes Sense

An initial eligibility review is available at no cost and with no obligation to proceed. Any fees and terms for further work are explained before you decide whether to move forward.

Tell me a little about your business and its import activity. I’ll help connect you with the appropriate specialists to evaluate potential recovery opportunities.
